You can show compassion to those who need it the most, and the creatures that live in our beautiful world are certainly deserving. At Kellaprince Properties, we take pride in being a socially responsible real estate business dedicated to animal welfare. Learn about our Kella-Pet-Fund initiative for the SPCA and how your support makes a difference.
About the Kella-Pet-Fund
Inspired by his love for animals and his long-standing connection with the Nelspruit SPCA, Keith Kellar, director at Kellaprince Properties, launched the Kella-Pet-Fund. This is a non-profit company aimed at raising funds and collecting food and other essential items for the Nelspruit SPCA. To get the community involved, Kellaprince Properties have also sold boerewors and prego rolls at The Crossing Shopping Centre. You'll also see fund events and details featured on our social media pages.
How the Kella-Pet-Fund supports animals
Funds and donations for the Kella-Pet-Fund go towards supporting the Nelspruit SPCA. The animal welfare organisation plays a critical role in preventing cruelty to animals. With their positive impacts on your community, every contribution actually makes your neighbourhood a better place to live whether you're a homeowner or renting property. Here's how the SPCA assists:
Animal rescue: The SPCA helps animals that are involved in accidents, are abused, neglected, or abandoned. They investigate incidents of animal abuse such as dog chaining, dogfighting, and the keeping of exotic pets.
The SPCA also visits pet shops, grooming parlours, wildlife facilities, etc. to ensure animals are treated correctly. They check to make sure animals are transported correctly and, if slaughtered, this is done as humanely as possible. If you witness instances of animal abuse in your area, you can contact the SPCA for help.
Sterilising animals: An overpopulation of animals can wreak havoc in communities. Feral cats, for example, can become a nuisance, transfer diseases or fight with pets, and have kittens that are likely to die without human intervention. The SPCA works to control their numbers, helping to better focus resources on ensuring these animals live better lives.
Finding lost pets: When a pet is lost, it is a traumatising experience. In many cases, lost pets are turned over to the SPCA. They provide a quick place to turn to if your pet goes missing.
Adopt a pet: Nothing beats the pleasure of giving an animal a home. They can fill your space with much happiness. The SPCA is always looking for responsible pet owners who can give these animals a much-needed 'furever' home.
Animal support: The SPCA provides food, shelter, and healthcare such as vaccines and parasite treatment, especially to support owners in less privileged communities.
Animal education: The SPCA does outreach programmes aimed at preventing animal abuse and educating owners on how to take care of their animals.
Every rand you donate to the Kella-Pet-Fund goes towards helping the Nelspruit SPCA in fulfilling their incredible mission.
Kella-Pet-Fund milestones
Kellaprince Properties has made a significant impact with the support of the community. Here are some of the Kella-Pet-Fund highlights:
- In 2018, the Kella-Pet-Fund raised over R175,000 for the Nelspruit SPCA.
- In 2019, the Kella-Pet-Fund collected just over R12,000 during the November/December period for the organisation.
- In 2019, the Laevelder/Lowvelder newspaper featured the Kella-Pet-Fund, creating awareness for its noble story.
